Creating a Photo Book

With MdBy you can create museum-quality photo books using a simple online builder without needing to install any separate software.

Use the steps below to build a unique luxury photo album in no time: 

1. Create or sign into your account if you have not already done so:

2. Select any applicable options from the product page and click "Customize" to open the builder.
   
   
3. After entering a name for your project, you’ll see an introduction slideshow, which we recommend viewing at full screen (if possible). 
   • Use the pause and navigation arrow buttons as needed to take your time viewing each slide. 
   • You can return to this slideshow later by selecting "Getting started" from the main menu.
     
     
4. Click “Start Building” then "Upload Photos" at the bottom of the screen to add photos for your project.
   
   
5. To place a photo, simply drag-and-drop from the Photos panel at the bottom of the screen. 
   • You'll see a checkmark for each photo that has been placed in the project.
   • If you wish to swap out a photo, place the new image directly onto the current image.
   • To only view photos that you have not yet placed, select the “Hide used photos” radio button.
   • You can use the “Autofill” option at any time to automatically add photos to your project in order of date taken, with the options to replace all images (including those previously placed), autofill only blank pages, and/or add pages to use all photos (for an additional charge). Pages can always be edited, added, or removed afterward.
     
     
6. Options to organize and edit pages and photos are in the accordion menu in the right-hand column. 
   • Organize Pages: Hold and drag pages to arrange forward or backward in your book, or click “Rearrange in Grid View” to see and manage all pages in a thumbnail view.
   • Page Layouts: Select from multiple templates for the selected page or spread (facing pages).
   • Edit Photo: Options to remove, crop, or rotate the selected photo.
     • You can also double-click a placed photo to access edit options.
   • Click the “+” icons to add pages to your book. 
   • Note that changing to a Page Layout with fewer images will remove photos that were previously autofilled and will need to be manually placed afterward.
     
     
7. At any time, you can switch between Build (two-page), Organize (grid), or Preview (full page) views using the icons found under the Total price field.
   
   
8. If you make a mistake while designing your book, you can click UNDO in the top-left corner, as well as REDO or ADD SPREAD as needed. 
   
   
9. You can change the Product Options at any time from the main menu (top-left corner).
   
   
10. The project is automatically saved to your account so you can close the page and return to your work at any time.
    • To work on a different project, select Exit My Project from the main menu. 
      
      
11. Preview and review the project carefully before clicking "Add to Cart" to continue to checkout.
    • Before purchasing multiple copies, we highly recommend ordering and reviewing a single “proof” copy in case any changes are needed before placing your full order.
